Clovis and Charlemagne
Clovis
Clovis was a Frankish king. He was chosen to be ruler by one of the Frankish groups. At first, he was polytheistic, which means the belief in many gods. After he realized that he was losing many battles, he finally listened to his wife who begged him to pray to the Christian God. He became Christian and started to win battles back to back. Also, he had the support from the pope since he was Christian. He enjoyed the support. He was a cruel leader though, but powerful.

Charlemagne
The leaders that followed Clovis were not good leaders, but then came Charlemagne. He was one of the most special leaders in Medieval Europe history. He was a Christian ruler of the Franks, and he tried to convert Germanic people to Christianity and tried to rule all of Western Europe. Even though he was cruel, he was still a great ruler. He was able to double the size of the kingdom and convert many people to Christianity. Even though he was crowned emporor of the Roman Empire, he was annoyed because this meant that the pope had more power than him and he ruled by divine empire. This made conflict between Charlemagne and the pope. After his death, his 3 grandsons divided the empire which weakened the empire. This led to the fall.
